The Foundation thanks Corliss Breeden and
Higher Ground Christian Fellowship's Women's Fellowship for their support of Grace's Closet.
In the activities room of the Higher Ground Christian Fellowship in Saint Albans, the sound of sewing machines and lively conversation create a joyful noise. Corliss Breeden, The Foundation for Thomas Health's very own Operations and Administrative Coordinator, joins in as she and the Women's Fellowship group sew, fold and package receiving blankets on their way to Grace’s Closet at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
Grace's Closet serves as a resource for new mothers in recovery in need of supplies and items to assist them with their new born and other children in the family. The idea came to Misty McGlothlin, a peer recovery coach who runs Grace’s Closet. Misty works with new mothers in early substance use recovery through Pregnancy Connections – a behavioral health program at Thomas Memorial Hospital for pregnant and postpartum women in recovery. Through her one-on-one approach, Misty recognized the need for basic items and supplies that would help the mother’s with their children as they work through their recovery program. After meeting Misty, Corliss was inspired to help, so she gathered support from her local church group and started a sewing circle to make blankets that would go directly to Grace's Closet. “Corliss is an action taker and a key part of our success at the Foundation bringing organization and compassion towards others every day. We are so grateful for her and the relationships she is building that benefit The Foundation, our mission and those we serve,” said Sally Barton, THS Foundation Executive Director. Today also happens to be Corliss' birthday. So please join all of us at The Foundation by wishing her a happy birthday!
Happy Birthday, Corliss!
